An environmental clean-up first announced two years ago has moved forward in the city's land use process with an application ready for public comment. Project 3011676 would clear yet another hurdle toward the clean-up of some 20,000 cubic yards of contaminated soil and the demolition of the Greyhound Lines facility at Denny Way and Pontius. A nine-day closure of the State Route 99 Alaskan Way Viaduct will mark the beginning of the end for Seattle’s double-deck highway. At 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 21, crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) will close the majority of the viaduct until 5 a.m. Monday, Oct. 31. This was posted about a year ago when the FarmBoat floating market was launching, and the market is still around and growing. On Wednesdays, from 11am-3pm, the historic steamship Virginia V hosts local farmers and vendors. Here's a brief summary of what took place at the SLU Community Council and the Cascade Neighborhood Council meetings this week, where SLU Dog Park discussions were led by Brenda Kramer of Parks.At the SLU CC meeting, the Council was generally supportive of the need for a temporary site (indicating their preference of using a portion of Denny Park). They are supportive of a permanent park on the Greyhound Bus Barn site.
